As a women-owned business, we understand the importance of empowering our fellow ladies. Not only that, but we want to foster inclusivity, including trans individuals and those who identify outside of the gender binary as part of our celebration.
At Hook 42 we’re adamant about highlighting each other’s achievements, making today no different than the last. Taking a moment to extend these admirations and celebrate with our whole community, we want to recognize the hustle, and appreciate each and every lady and the hard-work and endurance instilled in us all to keep with the grind and find peace with it.
#BalanceforBetter
The year of balance, 2019’s International Women’s Day is celebrating the importance of balance. Recognizing that in order to feel happy and whole in life, it’s important to break from the silo, and allow yourself to be part of many things. After all, the many make the whole. Finding a way to manage work, life, and hobbies takes a special kind of balance and we take that to heart here as a key foundation of how we operate.
Too much of one thing isn’t always the best for you. Our team members are no strangers to side projects, big hobbies, and even sneaking in a few naps before dinner where we can … it’s all about that balance right?
We’ve all got duties beyond the screen, and finding the sweet spot where they all align is what drives the happiness and growth of our team.
Focus on Your Growth Too
As part of a balanced life, it’s important to take the time to invest in yourself. Remember that you are just as important as the people and work you invest in. We tend to put everyone else first, forgetting to find time for ourselves, but boss ladies step up and recognize the need for some me time too.
Someone once shared with me that you may not be remembered by what you do but the impact you have on someone else. This could be motherhood, grandmotherhood, mentorships, friendships or partnerships. Whatever it may be, in order to push yourself and your peers forward, you need to focus on you too. Your stability and healthy mind impacts your behaviors, and those behaviors are imprinted on those around you.
Balance The Good With The Bad
Another great piece of advice I’ve gotten along the way, was to celebrate your failures. I know this sounds like a crazy idea. No matter how much we plan and research and simply just try, we’re not always going to make the right decisions. It’s because we’re human, right ladies? The important part is that you learn from it, because paired with determination it’s the driving force behind your success.
We need to accept that we won't always make the right decisions, that we'll screw up royally sometimes - understanding that failure is not the opposite of success, it's part of success.

Support Your Peers
Hearing words of endearment, and showing appreciation, is one of the most uplifting things we can do for each other. Support success, no matter how small or large, in every aspect of life. Made it to daycare drop-off on time? Nailed that morning conference call? Had dinner with grandma? Made your first sale on your side hustle? Whatever it is, celebrate it!
Boss Ladies Have Balance
So ladies, we see you, we hear you, and we’re inspired by you! Continue to slay and most importantly be yourself while you’re doing it. You’re one boss lady.
